Seriously random thoughts

Posted by Joe on September 18, 2008

It has been a long time since I have made my random thoughts public through this blog. The project pressure which I had during my final stages of IIT and after that, pressure due to bindas life and enjoyment has kept me right out of the blogging world. Now I am back into the corporate world, and I think I can find enough time to write something in atleast once in a week.

But after not touching the keyboard for a long time, atleast not for chipping in something for the blog, it is really tough to direct my thoughts towards a single issue. So let me start with the basic thing which is asked in almost all the interviews.. tell me about yourself.. I am sure most of the guys know who I am and those who dont know, would most probably wont care. So I am sidelining that question for another question with possibly a more interesting answer…. Activities that has happened recently in my life.

Firstly, as I have said already, I have put myself back to the corportate world after an absence of 2 years. Well, I can say that nothing much has changed in the corporate world in this 2 years. Every thing is feeling in the same way.

By the way in my personal front, after analyzing the pros and cons of almost all the bikes which I like or have ever liked, I have bought a new bike. The bike is TVS Apache RTR 160 refresh. Such a long name for a comparitively small bike. I have bought my favourite red color. The bike is powerful for sure and the handling is great, but it has the same old gearbox problem. For those who dont know, in low speads, if you want to bring the vehicle to neutral, it will go to the second gear and during accelerating the vehicle to the higher speeds, instead of going to second gear from the first, it will end up in neutral gear. It has got the cold start problem, which happens to many bikes in Bangalore. Still, every thing comes as a package and I have started liking this red demon of mine. I have thought of christening my bike as Vampire, for its red color.

Other than that, I got mugged in Bangalore. They took away my cell phone instead of my wallet in a heavily crowded bus. Ofcourse this happened before I bought my bike. How the pick pocketer got my cell phone is definitely a classic and is worth mentioning. I have once lost a wallet in Kochin while trying to board a heavilly crowded bus. As the bus which I was about to board was also heavily crowded, intution told me that some one will go for my wallet. I kept my hand on my back pocket where I have kept my wallet. Unfortunately, I was wearing cargos on that day, which has got the characteristic loose pockets and more unfortunately, I have kept my cell phone in one of the side pocket. The pick pocketer has taken away my cell phone from this side pocket, with my hand practically just a few millimeters away from the side pocket. I must definitely laud his talent in picking up things, but alas, what he has got hold of is a discontinued model of Sony Ericsson T230. I bought that cell phone some 4 years back for a price of Rs 5000/- Nowadays, you can get a similar model for some where around Rs 2000/- and as my mobile is damn old, it will go for a max of Rs 400/- Still money is money and the worst part is that, I have lost many contact numbers through that old phone. It has lived through drops of many a feet, and even once, my mom has soaked my dirty jeans with cell phone still in it for almost half an hour and washed it after getting properly soaked to wipe away all the dirt attached to it. That cell phone is definitely rugged and will definitely live for many more years to come, provided, Mr.pickpocketer hasnt disintegrated that cell phone and sold it as scrap.

In memory of my old cell phone, I have bought a new Sony Ericsson, but this time, at triple my original cell phone’s price. The phone looks good and the model is W760i. For this too, I have settled for red. I dont know when I shifted my preferences from Black to Red. Might be that happened some where in the middle of my IIT life.

With this, I will stop this post, and definitely, I will work on my story, which, I have just written a chapter so far. So folks, keep your trust on this blog for some good content. I will try to deliver ;)
