Somebody to love you – Queen

With Celina Jaitley being in the news almost on a daily basis supporting gay rights, the so called traditional indian society is waking up every day and is angered with the way the new india is heading. They must definitely think that the whole country is going to dogs.

Of course homosexual are not accepted in the traditional Indian homosapien society. The first question which is asked about a person who supports gay rights is “Are you gay?”. Any homosexual will definitely be looked down upon and more than 90% of the Indians are definitely homophobic. Gays give creeps to many than Lesbians (Male chauvinism?).

I was also one among them till today. I was randomly listening to various rock songs over youtube and I as I was searching for greatest hits, I came across the rock band Queen. Their songs were kind of good and they are the band which composed famous songs like “We will rock you”, “Somebody to love” and “We are the champions”. As usual, I was not looking at the video and was just listening to the audio. But when I saw the video, the lead singer Fredie Mercury’s actions were not normal. And through Wikipedia, I came to know that he is gay. This made me to think that just because he is gay, I didnt like his songs less. Infact his orientation should not come in the way of how he is singing and how talented he is.

So as long as they are not making a pass on me, I think I am fine with the homosexuals in the society. Still, thinking that a homosexual will make a pass on each and every guy is similar to equating a guy making a pass on each and every girl he sets his eye on, as he is straight. But still I dont know how I will react if I come to know if some one of my family is gay. I am still the one who wrote this post.
PS: Fredie Mercury died of AIDS.
